Description
The tour starts at our office, where you will receive a short tour overview from our guide before heading to our school. There you will get an impression of where your tour payment actually goes and how much it helps the people in the surrounding area. Then let’s get out to the countryside! Together we explore rice and vegetable fields, mango plantations, observe Cambodians fishing and visit a duck, mushroom and lotus farm. To get a complete insight into Cambodian life, we stop at one of the most beautiful pagodas in the surrounding area. There, our guide will show you the connection between Buddhism and Hinduism and explain you how deeply the religion is rooted in the daily life of the Cambodians. After this we are heading back to our tour office in town and will arrive there around 6:00 pm.
Experience the world of Georges Rhumerie
Now your second journey starts: Experience the world of Rum with our cooperation partner Georges Restaurant and Rhumerie. A driver will pick you up at our tour office and brings you directly to the distillery. You want to take a shower first? No problem! Go and freshen up and we will pick you up at your hotel. Just let us know. No matter which way you choose, your second guide for this day will welcome you at the distillery.
The class will start in Georges Rhumerie’s showroom with a piece of sugarcane to try, as we are talking about the origins of the plant and how it was first used. Slowly moving from one activity to another you will learn more about the rum making process, a traditional savoir-faire. At the end of this fun presentation you will be able to choose from a selection of 36 spices to make your own flavoured rum and take your self made 100ml bottle home. While being in the shoes of an original craftsman, you will get 13 flavored rums to try, together with a home-made jam and chutneys to savor with crackers. Before you leave this tasty and enriching tour, allow a visit to Georges shop and go home with some more bottles of flavored rum, jams, chillies or chutneys if you want. As a plus we want you to know that all of the products are made in Siem Reap and 100% plastic-free and reusable. Every participating customer helps Georges Rhumerie to support local communities in a sustainable way.
